Before you board
Where do the tours leave from?
The office by the Beas in Manali, at seven for the day trips. We collect from hotels in Manali and Old Manali by arrangement.
How do the seats work?
You hold seats with an advance when you book; they are counted the moment we confirm the payment. A departure shows how many seats are left, and sold out means sold out.
What about permits and altitude on the circuits?
We arrange the Rohtang and inner-line permits. The circuits are paced to acclimatise — a night at Jispa before Kunzum — and the driver carries oxygen.
Is the price per person?
Yes, per seat. Children under five travel free on a lap.
What if the road closes?
On the circuits, if Rohtang or Kunzum closes we hold a day and adjust; if a tour cannot run at all, the advance comes back.

- Be at the office fifteen minutes before departure; the day trips leave on time
- One bag per seat on the circuits; the vehicle has a roof rack but the passes have wind
- No smoking or alcohol in the vehicle
- Carry a photo ID for the permit checkposts
- The driver's call on the road is final when the weather turns
- Tell us about any medical condition when you book, not at Kunzum

Manali: where the roads start
Manali is where the road to Leh and the road to Spiti both begin, and where every day trip in the Kullu valley is a morning away. The office is by the Beas bridge; the vehicles leave from the yard behind it.

Naggar and its castle are twenty minutes down the valley; Kasol and the Parvati an hour and a half; the deodar forests and the Hadimba temple a walk from Old Manali. For the circuits, the Atal tunnel has taken the Rohtang queue out of the first morning: Jispa by lunch, Kunzum the next day, Kaza by evening. The office is by the Beas bridge on the Mall, and the vehicles leave from the yard behind it at seven.

- Delhi to Manali is 540 km, twelve to fourteen hours on the overnight Volvo, which stops two hundred metres from the office.

When to come
The day trips run all year except when the Jalori road is snowed in, January and February. The Spiti circuits run from mid-June, when Kunzum opens, to mid-October, when it closes; the Langza tour the same. The orchard road is at its best in October, in apple season, and in April for the blossom.

THE DRIVERS
We started with one Tempo Traveller and the Rohtang permit queue in 2011. Fifteen years on there are four vehicles, six drivers who grew up on these roads, and an office by the Beas in Manali where the day trips leave from at seven. We run two kinds of tour. The day trips are for people staying in Manali who want to see the valley without haggling with a taxi: Naggar, Kasol, the deodar forests, the old tower villages. The circuits are the long ones — seven days into Spiti over Kunzum, five in the high villages around Langza, three down the orchard road to Shimla — with the nights, the meals and the permits handled, and a seat that is yours the moment we confirm it.
